Century Stereo was hired by my husband to design, build and install a custom component rack, wire our new home for a fully integrated Crestron Home Automation System including electric shades, lighting, and sound with touch panels, etc. My husband made it clear from the word "go" that this was a high priority for us and that we needed it done as quickly as possible. We understood that it was a complicated and in-depth process, so we wanted to get work started immediately. My husband knows just as much, if not more, about audio/video components and wiring as any professional on the planet, but we own and run our own business, so he doesn't have the time to orchestrate everything on his own. And that's why we hired Century Stereo to do the job. We were told work would begin immediately only to hear excuse after excuse as to why things were not being done. We hired an installer who has been wonderful, referred to us by Century Stereo only to have him sitting around not able to work because Century Stereo would not give us or him the information he needed to begin wiring our home for any of the several things that needed to be done. Century Stereo brought a cabinet maker to our home to make cabinets for us and he took one of our existing cabinet doors with him to ensure consistency in his work. We were told this would be an immediate turn-around of a couple days. So, he took a cabinet door in the middle of our living room (very noticeable), and we left the installer our key so work could continue while we went to DC for my husband's 17-year old nephew's funeral for 5 days. We then returned to a living room still missing a cabinet door, almost 2 weeks after he initially took the thing. When we called the installer to find out why work had not been done while we were away, once again, Century Stereo had not done anything we'd asked in terms of getting the information to the installer so he could get started on wiring.By this time, we had made several attempts to get Century Stereo to understand and respect the pressing nature of this project for us. Completely livid, my husband asked the installer to contact Roy (Century Stereo Salesperson with whom we'd been working) and explain our frustration and tell him this was Century Stereo's last chance and we needed our cabinet door back that day, and we needed to see much more of a sense of urgency on their behalf. The response from Roy was that he would get a call back within an hour, which never happened. And when our installer called Roy after 1 1/2 hrs of not hearing from him, he got no answer. Upon hearing this news, my husband called the owner of Century Stereo (Rick) to find out what was going on and he was told that they basically had been, and still are too busy to do what they had promised, and he freely admitted that they had only been stringing us along all this time.
To top it all off, we have 2 small babies (2yrs and a 9mo crawler) and we made it blatantly clear from the very beginning that we needed the large dangerous metal home theater components that we already owned off our living room floor. Here we are a month later with absolutely NO progress, thanks to Century Stereo and now we have to start all over again and hopefully find somebody to get these components into racks at the very minimum, IMMEDIATELY.in the interest of our childrens' safety, the ethical thing for Century Stereo to have done would have been to at least be honest with us about their timetable.
