Having just arrived from UK, I recently (June) got a monthly rolling mobile phone plan with Solo mobile worth CAD41 per month (including unlimited international text) coupled with a CAD200 security deposit. However, in the first two months, I was billed CAD78 and CAD66; with strange billing details.
The good news is that I have quickly switched to Wind (on the prepaid plan) with stronger user control, zero deposit, more generous plan and less pay.
The Solo fraud: Having paid all my outstanding balances, Solo customer de-service staff informed me that it will take 74 (yes seventy-four) days to process my security deposit refund and another 5 (you read it correctly) working days to get it through the post. This is contrary to what Solo staff advertised during my signing up (I was convinced that my refund would be processed in 2 weeks should I decide to discontinue). This systematic fraud perfected by imaginary customer service staff is totally uncivilized. I strongly would advise ANYONE, even my enemies to avoid having any dealings with the lying and dishonest business called Solo mobile.
