Dropped by to see if BatteriesPlus could checkout the battery for my daughters 5 year laptop. I spoke to the ass. Manager and mentioned that it was getting hot and would not charge. I also mentioned that if it was an internal issue that I would most likely buy her a new "Netbook" thru AAT ($199).
They mentioned that they would check out the battery (2 years old) and charger (1 1/2 years old) to see if it was either of these issues as well as look at the charging pin at the rear of the laptop. The cost was to be $75 total and that they would take care of it in the store. I signed over the laptop and again mentioned that I wasn't looking to spend more than that.
The tech standing next to the ass. Manager mentioned that they would not do anything to the laptop unless I authorized the work and would call me within a couple of days.
I again stopped by the store nearly a week later to ask what was up with the laptop. I was met with a bunch of blank stares from behind the counter as a different tech mentioned that the laptop was not back from the repair center. I was shocked and stated that the laptop was not authorized to be repaired and that they were only to check the battery & charger.
The manager stated that he couldn't give me any information at this time but would research the transaction and get back to me that day. That evening, I received a call on my v-mail that the laptop was ready to be picked up. When I arrived at the store, my laptop was sitting on the counter with a bill of an additional $125.
I asked the night clerk, what was going on? He proceeded to tell me he didn't know anything about it and I would need to wait while he called the owner. 15 minutes went by and the clerk mentioned that the owner was still on the road and hasn't returned his calls.
I stated I wanted my laptop and was not willing to wait. He mentioned that he could not release the laptop until I paid the bill. It was a stand off, so I ended up paying to get my daughters laptop.
I received a call from the owner later that night with the rational that the additional cost was reasonable and didn't understand why I was upset. I mentioned that, he was authorized to make repairs to the laptop and just lost a customer and that I was heading to usacomplaints.com to report his business. He again didn't seem to care as he got his money.
BatteriesPlus is a Rip Off as they bait and switch their one-time customers.
Please don't give them your business as you will pay, pay & pay.
