I tried to have Sears pricematch an online price from a competitor's store for an LCD TV (it was available online for free shipping or in-store pickup with plenty in stock). They said the don't price match the ONLINE price, even though their policy states otherwise - see below. They lure you in, make you waste 20 minutes while they wander around trying to determine stock quantities, then they take another 20 minutes to talk to managers and make calls to the other store, then they tell you they can't help you. Needless to say, I just went over to the other store and bought the TV, but I can't get back my wasted time.
Don't go over to Sears with hopes of PRICE-MATCHING without plenty of documentation and a legal counsel, and maybe then they will take you seriously.
I really feel bad for those that buy stuff at Sears, reassured that they can get a price-match later, only to meet this same type of resistance when they try to pricematch. Then you are stuck feeling like you could have paid less somewhere else, which is exactly what price-matching was meant to prevent. What a rip-off. Don't waste your time with Sears. Think about it, do you want to gamble on price matching, or maybe you should just go buy those things somewhere else.
