I got my usual AT&T bill and it had gone up by $35. When I looked into it I found a new charge for a company called USBI, also known as Silv Communications. This charge is known as a "third party billing" to AT&T. The folks at AT&T knew about this group and sees this happen all the time, but they can't do anything about it.
The third party billing info only shows a telephone number, 1-888-723-2199. When I called it the woman was quite defensive about my charge that the company had slammed my phone service. Here's the real kicker: They switched a seldom used fax number for my dedicated line. I don't even use long distance on that line!
Net result is that after fighting almost 45 minutes she told me she had credited the $35 but that it would take 3-4 months for the credit to come through.
Beware!
