I called Neighbors Moving because the moving company i had originally wanted to go with bumped up the price by 2G's when they came to pack my things. The guy i talked to was happy to take my order. I was told that since they did not have any vehicles driving East (i was moving to Illinois) for at least a week or so (they packed my stuff May 31st) i would have to put my stuff in storage and that i would have to do a local move then a long distance move.
I was charged $118.00 per hour and ended up paying a total of 696.00. During this time the workers (3 men) stopped for smoke breaks and when they werent on break they were smoking and carrying my furniture to the truck, all the while talking about how they work for tips. The best is yet to come.
After packing everything in my storage unit we then went to my apartment where there were 13 boxes to be moved (i packed them) TV, Glass Table, Subwoofers and some other things. While moving one of my lamps they broke the light bulb that was in it and did not even clean it up... Here comes the best part
When my goods finally arrived on 18 JUN 08, i was missing a box that i had packed and labeled. After noticing one box missing i started recognizing other things missing when it was all said and done almost 5G's worth of MY PROPERTY conviently came up missing. The guys who were unpacking gave me the whole sad pity party about how guys in this business steal and that whole rap but i wasnt buying it.
After filing a claim with this company, they are trying to settle the claim by giving me a check for $260.00, because they only pay up to 60cents per pound. Why not steal from people if what you steal is up to 5G's and the company only pays out $260.00 everyone is still happy... EXCEPT for the person they robbed.
I would advise anyone who uses this company to take pictures of your things, an in depth inventory, even color code your boxes instead of labeling them because these people will steal from you and not even think twice about it.
