I have been on Hughes Net since 2003 due to the fact that we had no other choice other than dial up. The download and surfing speed has always been very slow. Some parts of the day you can click on a site and sit for 10 minutes before anything comes up. It's very frustrating to call their technical support due to the fact that it's out-sourced to India. I have tried upgrading to all of their newest modems and even upgraded my service to the 79.99 professional service plan. It was no faster at all. I have spent hours and hours on the phone with every level of support all the way to level 4 and received no better service at all.
They asked me to do speed test for days several times a day and then I received a call from someone at level 4 that said everything was fine and there is nothing they can do.
I finally cancelled my service today and now they are trying to charge me $300.00 for early cancellation fee. I am going to write their corporate offices in Maryland and complain.
I was able to get Qwst DSL finally, and it's wonderful. You can even talk to an American when you need help!
Someone in the media should do an investigation on this company and their horrible service. They are a rip off.
