I worked for Unitech America as their Marketing Manager for six years, from December 00 to July 06 under a written contract that specified my meager salary but stipulated generous semi-annual bonuses that were dependent on our companys sales performance.
After our industry recovered from the impact of 9-11, Unitech began increasing sales at the rate of over 30% per year. Unitech decided not to honor my contract, and instead paid me whatever bonuses they felt like.
By the time I left Unitech in mid 2006 they owed me $50,125 in unpaid bonuses, of which I was able to recover $15,075 via the California Labor Board. The remaining $35,050 I was unable to recover due to my unfamiliarity with California Labor Law.
Cheat your customers, cheat your suppliers, even cheat the government if you must, but dont cheat those that work so hard for your benefit. Thats just low.
