I purchased a phone from ampdmobile.com on 9/15/06. I was told that I would receive a rebate form, and that upon mailing it with the receipt and UPC label, I would receive a $100 rebate 8-10 weeks later. It is now 17 weeks since I mailed in the paperwork, and still no rebate.
When I call ampdmobile to find out what the holdup is, I first must endure the usual voice mail system, and then I usually must wait 20-30 minutes before a LIVE person comes on.in a nutshell, they simply tell me that they are very backed up with rebates, but that I WILL receive my rebate.
Since I am always dubious about rebates to begin with (why not just knock $100 off the price of the product to BEGIN with?), and since it has been 17 weeks now that I've been waiting, I am already assuming that this rebate thing is all a scam, and that ampdmobile.com hopes I will just "forget" about it. What they don't realize is that I am the type of person that will NOT rest until I get my rebate.:—) I am also suspect about companies that give rebates, because in order to GET said rebate, you must provide them with your mailing address (perhaps so they can send you all kinds of JUNK mail?).
