This is another complaint about Dish network and it's unauthorized billing of my debit card. I had to give them my card to sign up for service. I did not sign up to have anything automatically debited from my check account. I had to move and had the service less than a year.
I moved from a house into an apartment complex, into a town house unit. The location of the unit was not a good location for a dish. The dish would have to be placed in the front of the unit for it to get a signal from the south. I was told by the complex that I couldn't put a dish in the unit or attach it in any way to the building. It would have to go in the back, and from my understanding this is not where the dish needed to be to pick up the signal.
Also, according to the complex, if I did get the dish and it could pick up a signal in the back of the unit then, I would have to pay a $200 deposit to have a dish and include it on my renter's insurance. I was not willing to do this when I could get cable.
I called Dish and spoke with a supervisor and was advised of the early cancellation penalty. I had even adised them when I was signing up that I would be moving and no one told me that there would be a $212 charge for cancelling early. I explainied that I had no control over the fact that I couldn't use their service where I was moving. I was told by Dish that I chose where I was going to move, apparently keeping my Dish service is supposed to be one of the things I look for when choosing a place to live! This is ridiculous! I chose the apartment complex based on it's school district, and the size of apartment based on the size of my family, not
what kind of tv we can watch!
They billed my Visa debit card without my authorization! I am disputing it with my bank. My bank card has been closed. They don't care about the fact that when I leave here and get another house I might have wanted to come back as a customer. There is no way now that I will ever use Dish network again!
I was told by the supervisor that I am responsible and they refused to help me. They refused to issue a refund after they used my card! I am now waiting for them to send me a box so that I can return the equipment. It took at least 3 phone calls and conversations with supervisor to get a box sent out and it was damaged during shipping. So, I am now waiting for another box to arrive.
