Comcast continually let someone open my account without my consent after closing account 3 times

Ok, so in July my roomate and I couldn't get along so I moved out. I notified Comcast the day I moved out and had the services disconnected the following day. I removed the modem and cable boxes and took them to a local store in Marietta to return them. I received a receipt and called Comcast and notified them that it was done. They told me that I had a date about from them to have the services shut off in the apartment. Since they bill a month ahead, I did not owe them any money.in fact, they owed me a credit of $23.00. They told me that I could expect the check in about a month.

A month goes by and I see a letter from Comcast that was forwarded to my new address. I open it and expect to see a check, but to my suprise it is a bill for about $123.00. I thought for sure this was a mistake, and notified them immediately. They told me that the account was re-opened 2 days after I had closed it. I told them that this must be mistake, becuase I do not live at the apartment. The lady told me that I had called up and requested a new box and for the cable to remain on. I told here that this was not the case, that my roomated must have impersonated me. I asked her how someone could have turned this account back on, considering that my roomate did not have access to my SS#. She stated that this must have been a mistake.

I cancelled the service and told here that I wanted my check, that I would not be responsible for this box that was installed prior to my original termination, and I wanted a verbal password (made up on the spot) put on my account to make sure that no one but me could have access to the account. I told that for no reason, should the account ever be turned back.

She seeemed very helpful and told me that it was all taken care of, and that I would not owe anything, and the check would be mailed out shortly. I asked for a copy of the past 2 months bills, so that I could verify that everything was correct.

About 3 weeks went by and I got another bill. This time I called another time, but I was not so nice. I dont want to go into this any further, but lets say each time this got progressively worse. I had to call up and RE-CANCEL my account 4 times before the service was shut off completely. Each time my roomate was allowed to call and have the services turned back on as he wanted to. Even after pages of notes explaining this situation that pops on the screen when my account is pulled up, they still allowed him to over and over open the account.

I have asked probably 10 time for the past 6 months worth of billing statements, and each time I am told that they are on the way. It has been almost 5 months and I have not seen one of them. They keep telling me that I cannot have the check because the box was never returned. I cant return a box that I do not have. They wont release the check, and evertime I talk to a representative, I am told the problem is fixed and my check and statements are in the mail.

I am constantly lied to by managers who say they will call me back, and I am not getting anywhere with Comcast. The security practices there are a joke to say the least. I dont know yet if this has effected my credit in the least, but this is getting very irritating.

I dont know if there is any kind of legal action that I can take against Comcast, but if there is, I fully intend to pursue. I have spent countless hours of frustration and phone time trying to deal with this...
