Complaint / Review
InPhonic, Wirefly
Interminable delays without communication or resolution

As others, I also experienced the delay tactics of InPhonic, Inc.

Their processor, Continental Promotions Group, Inc., Of Tempe, Arizona only contacted me one time, via email, stating they had found one rebate due for $75. I had to send them a copy of the rebate form showing a total of $170.00. Telephone calls to their number elicited a menu telling me a rebate was due but it would be another eight weeks after it was already overdue.

The CEO of InPhonic is David Steinberg. He happens to be on the Board of Directors of the US Chamber of Commerce. I wrote to Mr. Thomas Donohue, the President of the US Chamber and alluded to the fact that one of his Board members was running a scam, and asked if he could call him (both located in DC) and ask him to send my money. Did receive a reply that he had done so. Received a call from a Megan Murray of InPhonic but I was not here to take it. Returned call and could not reach her. Filed a complaint with the FCC and the DC Attorney General.

Called Megan Murray's telephone number at night and left a message: (her number: 202-333-0001, Ext 102) I would be filing a complaint with the FCC, the DC Attorney General, a complaint had already been filed with the Better Business Bureau, I would send letters to the Wall Street Journal, CBS 60 Minutes, Dateline, Bill O'Reilly, and file a petition with the local Small Claims Court.

The following day I called Ms. Wendy Weinberg, Asst Attorney General of District of Columbia, and told her of my frustration with this company. She was very aware of their practices and most likely a class action suit will be filed against them. Her number is listed in another complaint. On the morning I spoke to Ms. Weinberg I asked her if she would like copies of the complete file I had assembled on InPhonic and she said she would. Checking the mail that afternoon I found a check from InPhonic for $170.00. I noted it had been mailed from Reston, Virginia, and not from Continental Promotions Group. It was three weeks past due. I mailed the copies to Ms. Weinberg the following day.

I do believe had I not made night phone calls with the threats made I would still be trying to get the rebate. BTW, the InPhonic rebate site still states I have a rebate due, but I have made an "error" since they are changing processors. Maybe I will get a second check? Will take them nine months to get THAT back.

Another complaint lists the home phone numbers of the officers of InPhonic. Call them at 3:00 Am and ask for your rebate. Leave a message, tell them all you are contacting, call again. Everyone reading this should contact the US Chamber of Commerce and tell them Mr. David Steinberg needs to be removed from their Board of Directors and suggest The Chamber contact Ms. Wendy Weinberg to corroborate the business practices of his company and the number of complaints against it. Send them down the tubes.
