Complaint / Review
Cingular Wireless
Ripoff dishonest, fraudulent billing, runaround given, phony email customer complaint address

I have been a contract customer of Cingular Wireless for over a year now and I regret signing that contract. I choose a plan that had too many minutes for my needs, but had to wait six months to change it. I tried to change it in advance, for December in November but it was not allowed.

In April, I tried to download some games to my phone, but they were never installed. I was charged for them anyway. When the bill came, they were taken off without hassle.

In May my phone was lost and I bought a new one with a comera. I was told I could sent photos to other people with camera phones. I was not told they had to have cingular service. So I sent four photos to someone with T-Mobile, and four to someone with Nextel. They were not recieved but I was charged for them anyway.

Then in June, I downloaded three games. One was a jigsaw game that requires you to go online and spend more money if you want a different or new picture to do. I was not notified of this when purchasing the game.

I called Cingular, and was told the game could be taken off when I paid my bill. When the time came, my bill was 149.49. They said they gave me credit for the game not purchased, but when I paid my bill, they said it was 154.49 instead and that the adjusted cost was 147. Something.

Furthermore, they said the jigsaw game could not be taken off. Neither could the photos, which were billed as "multi-media messages". The customer representive didn't know that was what they were. I recognized them by the phone numbers.

I was given an email address to contest the charges, but had to pay them. The email address was Cingular/DB.com, which does not exsist.

I requested information regarding the cost to cancel my account and that was the end of my encounter with the customer personnel.

After I hung up, about five minutes later I recieved an automated call from cingular regarding my account. I wrote down the phone number and called it. I thought maybe they took my compliant seriously but found it was another automated message instructing me on how I could pay my bill.
