Ripoff Fraudulent Advertising Not Honoring Rebates ripoff, false advertising, dishonest, bad business practices

On 1/14/06, I purchased a 27" X2Gen LCD TV (MV2701) from PCMall.com. The television was eligible for a $150 mail-in rebate under the "CWS - Super-Bowl LCD TV Promo." After receiving the television on 1/20/06, I began meticulously filling out the rebate form according to all instructions. I sent out the rebate on 1/23/06. The rebate form stated to allow up to 8 weeks for processing of payment.

After 12 weeks and no response, I emailed [email protected] for a status, and they responded that it would take 15-20 business days to research the issue and a response given. After no response for 3 weeks, I called X2Gen and spoke with their receptionist, who requested for me to send in the rebate again. I advised her that I no longer had a copy of the original rebate offer, but would do my best to track it down.

On 6/14/06 I called X2gen again, and asked to speak with their rebate coordinator, who's name is Matt. I was told to call back the next day.

On 6/15/06 I called X2gen and spoke with Matt and explained to him my situation. He stated that my rebate had been denied, without the possibility of resubmission, due to the fact that I did not include a self-addressed stamped envelope along with my submission. I explained to Matt that this was ridiculuous, as I had abided by all of the rebate terms and conditions and submitted my rebate properly. He stated that he would consult with his supervisor and placed me on hold.

Upon his return, he stated that X2Gen was willing to offer me 50% of the amount of the original rebate offer, which equated to $75. I refused this offer, and advised Matt that I was not willing to accept any amount below $150, as promised me in the original offer. I also advised him that this was bad business practice. He stated that he would not be able to assist me further beyond offering me $75, and that he would refer my grievance to the legal department. He stated that I would/should receive a call from legal to further discuss the issue.
