Gateway Computers & Paradigm Acceptance
Unsolicited Nuisance Marketing Ripoff

I was contacted approximately 3 weeks ago by a company called Paradigm Acceptance, they had left a voicemail message explaining that they were calling because my Gateway "purchase" had been approved. Having not initiated any purchase, much less being interested in any product from Gateway, I figured that they either must've had the wrong number, or some new sales associate had mistakenly disregarded the FTC Do Not Call list, and didn't worry about it too much. Well, the calls continued, twice a day. On the first weekend I just picked up the phone to stop the message from going to voicemail and be done with it, but for some reason their call was able to tie up my line for the better part of 5 minutes. I could not dial out, nor could I get a dial tone, and that phenomena continues to this day when they call and I attempt to use the phone. I finally decided last weekend (the second weekend of these occurrences) to give them a call and ask that they stop. I could not seem to get through so I called Gateway and explained the situation, and badge number KS1007 explained that I would be placed on their do not call list which should go into effect in 5-7 days, and that the information would definitely be passed on to their finance company, Paradigm Acceptance. During our conversation the rep did not understand why Paradigm was calling us on Gateway's behalf, that there was no order initiated. He did give me the number to Paradigm and suggested I speak to them directly to speed up the process to get Paradigm to stop calling, and even went as far as to transfer me over. Well, the Paradigm just laughed at me and stated in so many words that she wouldn't do anything for me because "she didn't call" me, and promptly hung up on me. I then called Gateway back to basically complain about the service I had just received from their finance company, and the Gateway rep did apologize and stated that the incident would be noted.

That brings to the end of the third weekend, today, and I am still getting calls from Paradigm. I just got off the phone with another Gateway rep that stated they "have no control over their finance partner" Paradigm and that I need to speak to Paradigm directly. I reminded the gateway rep that I was on the FTC Do Not Call list, and that rep KS1007 had assured me that I would be placed on a Gateway do not call list as well, but the new rep (no badge number available) stated there was "nothing more she could do".

I have now just reported Paradigm and Gateway for their refusal to fix the problem on the FTC Do No Call issue, I really didn't want to go that far, but it appears at this point that I will be perpetually receiving these unsolicited Paradigm automated calls. I've even thought about checking on the possibility of getting my Telco to block the incoming phone number, but it seems that the originating number changes frequently so if it were possible to block I'd be blocking probably an entire area code in case they have multiple prefixes as well.

I'm hoping this measure will help.
