Adelphia
Poor billing and record keeping no customer service fraud ripoff

My wife had an account with Adelphia Cable for several years. We recently moved and canceled service with Adelphia. We left our receivers and modem at the apt and the manager called and Adelphia came and picked up the equipment. I had called and thought everything was fine and was told there were no problems.

I then received a collection notice stating the fact that my wife owes them for a missing modem. I called the collection agency and they were useless as they are all are. As an FYI the company was CMI Credit Management L based in Carrollton, TX 18003777723.

So I called Adelphia they told me the modem had never been picked up and I argued a bit but finally realized I would not win this battle so I said I will pay the $45.13 outstanding, just to be done rid of the head ache. I asked for a bill to be sent certified mail and they said they do not send bills certified mail, I offered to pay for certified mail, and still a big fat no. Well if that was that It would only be minor problem and another reason why Satellite is better than Cable.

As I stated above my wife was sent to collections (which stay's on the record for 7 years) and wanted it taken off. I told them we never received a bill a phone call anything stating the fact that we still owed them money. But it is my fault that I did not know. Even though I still have an account with them which I pay on time and if I'm late I get a phone call. So how hard would it be to make a little bit of an effort? All I want is to be taken out of collections they sent my wife too, which she never should have been sent. If you give me a fair chance to pay a bill I will pay in a timely manner.

It is like me saying I sent you a bill no matter if I did or not and then sending you to collections. It should be laws that before you are sent to a collection agency for an outstanding balance the company (Adelphia) send a letter certified mail to make sure you are aware of it or at least a phone call, you answer not a message.

That is my rant and good luck and stay away from Adelphia.
