I bought a Bissel carpet cleaner a week ago and wrote a check for it. Read their return policy on the wall in front of the cash registers and ask the cashier specially if I could return if I did not like the cleaner, he answered yes I could.
I returned the cleaner today and they told me that since I wrote a check and the purchase was over a $100.00, I could either wait and get a check in the mail within 14 days or get store credit. I ask if I got store credit and bought something and the person did not like it, could they return and get the money back? He said no.
I told him that their policy on the wall did not state that if you write a check for over a $100.00 or pay cash over $250.00 that you would have to wait for a check from their corporate office. He told me that it states it on the receipt. I told him that it was misleading if it just states on the receipt because you have to make the purchase before you would know this and you are in the same position.
I could collect interest on this money but they are collecting the interest on money that is mine.
