They'll swear to your face they don't, but THEY DO sell returned merchandise as new. There are several factors that lead me to believe the Atlantic Center Circuit City in Brooklyn, NY sells used merchandise.
1) Many times they bring out boxes that have obviously been re-taped. Sometimes not very well, either.
2) I've gotten computer software home and opend it, only to find FINGERPRINTS on the cd's.in this case, I truly suspect the employess ar emaking copies of it then putting it back in the vbox.
3) The same goes for computer equipment - while the equipment itself appearfs in good condition, the cd's have fingerprints and manuals look bent and wrinkled. NEW items do not ship with fingerprinted driver CD's and wrinkled manuals.
3) On several occasions I've bought electronics from this store, and getting the item home and opening the box, things are not professionally packed. NEW items that have cables and cords - the cables and/or cords are wrapped symmetrically, flat and even on all sides, and the twist ties are neatly and straightly placed on the cables. Many times cables are just rolled up unevenly and twist-tied haphazardly. We are not idiots. You can definitely tell the difference between a factory packaged item and a store repackaged item.
4) How do you explain all those packages on the shelves with the cords wrapped around them. I asked someone in the store about this, and was told it's an anti-theft device. I might have believed him if all of the boxes had the same cord wrapped around them, but only 3 out of about 12 boxes had this device on them.
In most cases, if I test the item and there are no problems, i will keep it, but I have had to rturn things on about 5 occasions because it too obivuosly used
