Sold heavy item (set of pottery) on ebay. Wanted to be fair to buyer so lugged heavy boxes (site says two smaller boxes cheaper than one huge box) to UPS store to get cost of the two with 400.00 shipping on each box. Clerk very helpful and did provide amount for both boxes. Told buyer and was paid.
After buyers money order arrived, returned to the same store with both boxes packed tight with no room for movement. Different clerk insisted that should there be breakage UPS would not pay without their peanuts as packing. Opened first box, removed stuffed tight paper out of a very small space and proceeded to tell me would have to be packed by them to insure coverage. So, the store got another 25.00 (on top of the outlandish ground costs) on two boxes that were packed tight with each item wrapped and taped with tons of bubble wrap and extra foam sheets or thick cardboard between each item.
They never opened the second box. My bet is they retaped my boxes and shipped, as there was very little space for their precious 'peanuts.'
When store first opened, took in three old 3X5 photos to be copied to be preserved and had to 'return the next day, as they were out of the right kind of photo paper.' The bill the next day was 22.00 for 3 photos on one 8.5 X 11 photo paper.
Eventhough this store is closest and try to conserve gas, will never step foot in store again.
