I have a digital camera I purchased from Best Buy Co.inc. With a 4 yr service plan that I (along with a witness) submitted for repair or replacement due to not powering on to the local Best Buy store. At the time the only problem the camera had was that it was not powering on and the LCD was intact.
Best Buy agent inspected the camera and accepted it for repair as a unit without any sign of physical abuse or damage that would void the warranty. The agent further annotated on my receipt the condition of the camera as normal wear, and the reason for repair not powering on.
Through mishandling later during shipment or repair cycle Best Buy broke the LCD of the camera and informed me that they are denying service plan coverage due to a broken LCD, which is considered misuse or abuse.
Since August 2004 I have been in an uphill battle for having Best Buy honor the terms of their service plan and replace the camera initially with the local Best Buy, and later on with the Best Buy Company, Inc. Headquarters without any resolution. This definitely is a rip-off to me!
