I was solicited in September. Al E. Baron took over $700 in funds for my daugter's college education. She was 14 at the time. We were told that she would be totally funded for her college education. We've spoken with Lisa an employee over the telephone in August.
I was solicited by the College Funding Group via USPS mail, responded by calling the 800 number and setting up the interview to go to theLaQuinta Inn in Sugarland, ATX. After a nice presentation, each of the parents (with their children i.E. Prospective college students) each met with a representative. We met with Joe Mulcahy (his pager number is 617-802-5554) from the College Funding Group, 567 Main Street, Berlin, NH 03570, phone 603-752-1122 (phone now out of service).
Note, these meeting took place with our daughter, so he saw the testimonials about how other students got funding for college. I signed the contract on 9/03 and provided three checks for $332.50 by the College Funding Group (719-395-3626). Of note, service was not to begin until the year 2006 because my daugther was 13 year's old and she was in 8th grade at the time the contract was signed and I informed the College Funding Center of her age and they said that that was okay). I signed the contract for two reasons: 1) I was told it would be cheaper to purchase the service in 2003 as opposed to the year 2007.
I am in desperate need of financial aid for my daughter. She is currently a Junior in High School and I tried to contact College Funding to get additional information on scholarships and SAT/ACT testing.
After several attempts of calling College Funding Services, an answering service came on and stated that the number was no longer in service.
What am I going to do about my daughter's and other children college education? How can people live with themselves? Why was this done to me and my family? This was so underserving.
