Like so many others who have filed reports, I was taken in by a "no obligation - free trial" offer from National Geographic. Except, they DID offer a card to send in to cancel my "subscription", which I did. I continued to recieve the magazine (and return it over and over again) for nearly a year. Now I am being hounded by North Shore Agency... Not only for the magazine subscription I never ordered, but also a $14.00 video that I never received... Or wanted to receive. From now on if I want to "try" a magazine or product I will simply buy one from my local retailer.
I may save money purchasing subscriptions, but all the hidden details and obligations in such offers makes them loose their appeal for me. It seems the older I get the more fine print I have to read in order to keep from getting screwed. Whatever happened to straight-forward business and consumer affairs? America has chosen to write an eleventh commandment: Screw unto others before they screw unto you!
