My experience with CAMCO started last summer. Steve Johnson, supervisor, had several employees start calling asking me to settle a dedt from 1989 as well as sending me letters. I called the company that I "owed" the debt too - they have no record of me and stated that they would even 14 years later. They use another bank and do their own in-house financing.
After numberous calls and sending them a letter asking them not to call - they even now speak with my spouse. Unfortunately, I didn't send certified. They even asked us to give them our checking account information via phone for them to withdraw a settlement of $312.06 for a $1,533.72 debt - yeah right! A couple of months later, they again spoke with my spouse, stated that if we sent them a check for $200 they would wipe the slate clean. Again, no. They were not going to get one cent from us! I have filed complaints with the BBB, the FTC and now working with our Attorney Genery/Department of Justice!
Now, 4 months later. I am now getting calls from Riddle and Law representing CAMCO! Thanks to Scott in Akron, OH I have faxed CAMCO a "cease & desist" letter as well as mailing one certified to CAMCO and Riddle Law with return receipt requested. The letter today from Riddle Law specifially states that the charge off/last payment date was 10/1989,15 years later! Of cource, the time limitation in NC is 3 years. Again, no money. But they will be hearing from me as well an attorney!!
