Yesterday I was contacted via phone by CAMCO stating that I owed an absurd amount of money on a twenty year old debt. They were abusive and intimidating. Today I searched the internet and found this site and the truth about CAMCO. One, this debt was paid years ago, two the statute of limitation is only 7-10 years, unless you make the mistake and make a payment, then it rolls back to zero and you are responsible for the debt.
Do not make that mistake! Send a certified letter to CAMCO stating this is not your debt and to stop contacting you. Keep a copy of the letter, if they continue to contact you seek legal aid as the law states that once they have received the letter it is illegal to continue this practice. Also write letters of complaint to the Attorney General of your state and the state of Illinois. Further more, read all the complaints filed by people just like you and me on this site. CAMCO must be stopped!
This company received money from the government for this business, our tax dollars! Make sure you read the posting from a former employee of CAMCO, it will provide you with all the incentive you need to pursue action against this company!
