I received a letter demanding payment for a "debt" from Capital Aquisitions and Management Company. When I talked to a rep, I was informed that this "debt" was from 1993 and originated with Bank of America.
I told them that this debt had been paid in full, and was told that "no it was not, becuase if it had been, then why did [they] have it".
I requested information be sent in writing regarding the "debt" and the rep refused to provide it saying "I am not going to send you anything".
He was rude, talked over me, and could not provide any legitimate information. He hung up on me after saying that he would submit my response to the debt as "refusal to pay". I am pursuing this with every agency I can think of and I am not paying them a dime!
I beleive this is a scam and that they have no legal right to attempt a "debt" legitimate or not, that is over 10 years old.
When I contacted Bank of America, they did not even have any record that I was ever a customer. Do not pay these people anything and report them to every agency you can think of.
