Charging for service after terminated and paid in full

My service contract with Verizon has long been expired. I have been on a month to month for some time. I changed to a national plan and sent the phone with my daughter on a Youth Group trip to Atlanta, Georgia during the summer. The bill was way too high and it tooks weeks to get it corrected. During that time Verizon shut the phone off. (And I've decided I like not having a cell phone and won't have another due to the peace and quiet I now experience in my car, in the store and when I am outside. Very liberating:-)

I paid for the services through the date that Verizon shut the phone off. Now they are billing in excess of 200.00 for services that were not contracted for or provided.

They have called my office and my home phone after I requested they not call me. I requested, in writing, a copy of a contract and invoice of services provided. That's what the law says they have to do. I sent a letter saying not to contact me until they did provide the information. I asked the employee who phoned me to stop calling until they provide the information. Then they sent another invoice and CALLED MY HOUSE AND TOLD A GUEST THAT I NEEDED TO CALL RIGHT AWAY REGARDING A COLLECTION ACCOUNT.

The person left a name, number and extension to have me call in regard 'to a letter I had sent'. When I called the employee said there is no way to transfer a call and I needed to pay the balance right away. Another collection attempt! And it is very illegal to tell an uninvolved third party about this. Help?
