Video Professor
Scam, Misrepresents product, advertises "free", 10 days to return or $59.95 Englewood

In October I received an e-mail from Video Professor advertising their "free" learning CD-ROM. As I had heard about them on TV I decided to try it even if they do charge $6.95. I ordered the lesson for WindowsXP online, paid my $6.95 via my debit card and in a few days it arrived.

Unfortunately in the interim I had to go out of town on family business. Upon my return before even opening the package from Video Professor I checked my bank account online and found that I was $110.00 overdrawn and low and behold there was a charge to my debit card for $59.95 from, you guessed it, Video Professor.

I had run my checking account pretty low with travel expenses but also knew how much I had in the bank. I found out that this amount had been removed and of course not having any idea this resulted in 5 overdrafts. This along with my unexpected charge of $59.95 resulted in having a negative balance of $170.00.
Upon opening the package I found not one (the ONE CD I had paid for) but four CD'S. Three for the "Course" plus, they threw in an extra one: "Stay Organized: Quick and Easy" which was free. (I suspect to soften the blow).

I called their customer service immediately and spoke with a very friendly person, Caroline, and explained my situation. She told me if I would return ONE of the CD's in the "Course" I would get the $59.95 refunded to my bank account. When I explained about the overdrafts she also told me that if I would fax a copy of my bank statement (fax #303-239-8057) to Anne, that I would be reimbursed as well. I was still very irritated but was satisfied.

I faxed the requested documents the next day. I waited several days, continuing to check my bank balance, and finally had to call, twice in fact to finally get someone to agree to get the charges in my account within 48 hours. When I questioned the overdraft fees I was told that that would not be reimbursed. When I questioned this I was told that it did not "qualify" as a valid reason for a reimbursment, even though I had been told by Caroline that is was. Needless to say I was very very upset as my bank account was still in arrears. Subsequently I sent several e-mails but they refused to answer. So due to their MISREPRESENTATION I was forced to "eat" the $110.00.
I still want my money! And i feel they still owe it to me!
