Simple Escapes
And Bank One ripoff tricking you into memberships Omaha

Received a $4.00 check from Simple Escapes. I didn't cash it.

But the check said that if I did cash it that my membership would be automatically acitvated and that after 30 days they would charge my credit card a $139.95 annual fee.

I contacted my Credit Card company (Bank One) and asked them if they knew about this company. They said yes and that Simple Escapes has a code number for my card that would allow them to automatically charge to my card if I answered any of their offers (like cashing the gimmicky $4 check Simple Escapes sent).

I told my credit card company that I would be looking for a different card provider and that I would report these sleazy dealings to their headquarters.

People need to be aware that it is their Credit Card company that is allowing companies like Simple Escapes to trick you into these memberships. It most likley won't do any good to complain to Simple Escapes, but it may do some good if enough people complain to their Credit Card companies.
