Grolier - Scholastic
Rip-off to new moms and old pro's alike! SO-Let's get something done about it! Deceptive company

First let me say, I came online today to see about discussing my greivences with an actual customer service person at the Grolier website and when I typed in the name Grolier Scholastic into my search engine, to my delite this sight came up. Don't get me wrong, I am disgusted by the numbers of us who have been scammed by this diceptive organization but I also feel some comfort in that I am not alone and that maybe as a group we can do something about it.

I too have been stung in the butt by the Grolier bug. I believe they are just sickening and prey on our will to raise our children to love reading and be intelligent human beings. There are people on this rip off site from all over the US. People who are new to the club and people have been customers for years. And we all feel that we have been cheated!

Let me begin by clearifying my situation, I am not looking to get out of paying for anything, I owe them nothing, I have recieved a total of 8 (little 5 page cardboard Baby's First Disney) books and a ("FREE" cheap-o cardboard) bookshelf and have paid in excess of $80. I have sent them two or more letters (two that I kept copies of) asking them to please cancel my account and explaining why. And they responded by sending me more books which I promptly wrote "return to sender" and "cancel my account" on.

So now, they send me this letter claiming at this time they can not cancel my account and that "I'll recall when I joined, I agreed to purchase a minimum of four shipments". Well now, is that right, Grolier? Show me my contract! And maybe it IS all about reading fine print or something (as I read in one of the their rebuttals on this sight) but if so - that is some shady bisiness. Fine print is the for crooked real estate agents and used car dealers.

And Scholastic you may realize these jobs don't have the reputation for being the most honest businessmen. And I personally am surprised that Scholastic, a company that my family has bought books, posters and mad libs from throughout our school careers, and Disney, a place that we go to every year and spend serious $, would lend their names to such a company and means of doing business.in my letter from Grolier/Scholastic (no customer service number given, coincedentally) they claim to "value me as a customer — and want me to be 100% satisfied with their service!"

Well, as I have told them thrice now and they don't seem to care, I feel taken advantage of... So what are they going to do about it???
