In January MWI Connections (1-800-568-2368, CT) - a company with whom I've had no dealings - charged my VISA account $96.00. I contacted MWI via the telephone number on my VISA statement next to its name (given above) and the representative assured me that MWI would credit my VISA account for this $96.00 charge.
I asked the representative at MWI how its company got my VISA number and this person told me that MWI probably got my VISA number from another company whom I had recently ordered from via telephone, tele-marketer, or the like. As of this date MWI Connections has not credited my account as it promised it would.
In addition, some place called American Health Plan (1-866-270-2958, CT) - another company with whom I've no dealings - charged my same VISA account $4.95 in January then $49.95 in February. I spoke with them today and they assured me they would credit my account for these two charges.
A third suspicious charge to my VISA account from EZTP.net for $64.90 also showed up on my February statement. I telephoned the number given alongside the item on my VISA statement (1-888-3572727, NASSAU). The representative from EZTP.net informed me the company would credit my VISA account for this charge and instructed me to return the packages I received from them. I have not receive any packages from them, nor do I know anything about such packages.
I telephoned Capital One Bank - through which my VISA account is handled. They canceled my VISA number immediately and will re-issue another after four business days and mail a new card to me. Capital One
Bank is to mail me a fraudulent claim form, which I am to complete and return to them as soon as possible. Capital One Bank will investigate these four charges above, totaling $215.80.in the meantime, they will
credit my Capital One Bank VISA account for the above charges ($215.80)- pending the outcome of its investigation - since it seems clear the
companies themselves are giving me nothing more than "lip service" about reimbursing me for these erroneous charges.
It appears that MWI Connections has connections with other companies who are getting credit card numbers, making erroneous - if not fraudulent charges, then giving the numbers to other companies, who are also making erroneous - if not fraudulent charges.
