University Of Pheonix Scam, Financial aide fraud Liars Deceptive

I saw a commercial for the above University. I was interested in obtaining my Bachelor's degree. Being able to go to school while in the comfort in my home seemed amazing.

I talked to a lady in financial aide. Gave her my information, filled out a new FAFSA form, had my transcripts sent to them.

I had 70 credits that I was informed would transfer 100%. The 1st class that I would take would be free. It was a promotion for that month. The 1st class was only 2 credits and more of an introductory class. The class would teach us the basic tools of how each class ran.

I also had to apply for student loans. I was able to max them at 4k since I was considered a Junior.

Week 3 of my 1st class I received 2 checks from the UOP totaling 3k. They were refund checks from my loans. I was pretty pumped about it. So I cashed the checks and paid some bills. I then get a bill from UOP for 5k. I was royally mad.

I was charged 1060 for my introductory class. Each credit was 530. That is more than what U of M charges per credit hour. My 70 credits didn't transfer fully either. I was given partial credit. So instead of needing 50 credits to graduate I now needed 70.

I called UOP and was informed that they never offered the intro class free. I was confused. When asking about my 5k bill I was told that it was for my other 4 classes. WHAT!?!

Why did they send me a 4k refund? They informed me that I was responsible for sending them in payment for my classes.

This didn't make any sense. Why would I sign up for a school to have to pay out at least 1800 every 6 weeks. My financial aide wouldn't cover the whole cost. They overcharge for classes that aren't worth it. They lie, steal and defraud the general public until they are screwed.

They sent me to collections for the 5k. They informed me that since I withdrew from UOP they had to send Sally Mae 5k back. Since I didn't complete my classes. I called Sally Mae. They never received a dime from UOP. The only thing I owed was the 4k that I took for student loans.

UOP sent me bills, collector calls etc. I filed a complaint with the AG in that state as well as Michigan. Needless to say that 4k showed up on my credit report. It was quickly a write off once the AG got involved.

These people are crooks. The school is worthless. Why would I pay 45k for a Bachelor's from UOP when I could go to U of M and pay half.

Do not let these ppl scam you!!
