I enrolled at the university of Phoenix to compete my education to earn my BA of science in human Services. First off the program was experimental, I had to continue in school a year longer than i should have because of a mistake on the university. The school counselors did not include internship for the courses so everyone in my program had to do back to back internships that basically added and extra year on to the whole program, the university promised to pay for the inconvenience.
I should have expected that the extra would come from me at some point. I completed all of my courses and got some credits transfered in but all of a sudden a fee of $2,412.07 came up when i had taken my last course it was paid for with a credit of 842.00 left over for future dispersement. I was scheduled to graduate in June of 07. I was thrilled to have completed my studies so that i could advance to a better paying job in my field. Well i received a bill in November stating that i had a balance i called the university and was told it was a mistake and that it would be cleared up or i would receive a call.
I then attempted to order my transcript and was told that i had dropped out of school and/or did not complete my courses and that i needed tp pay the school money back for courses i failed to complete. I argued that i had completed my courses and there were no more courses for me to take. I then noticed that my previous courses were not credited through university of phoenix. I went to my previous colleges to find out the issues once i got that cleared up I waited for everything to clear. I called to see why i still had a balance and i was argued with that i choose to drop out.
I was also told that I should have had the courses transfered sooner. I wrote a letter stating my issues with the charges and the university the I should not be held responsible for a mix up that was not my fault, that i was not in charge of scheduling courses and that now that all of the courses were transfered I should not have had a balance but i was still requested to repay the money then i was told i would need to pay the money back before i got my proof of completion. I got a loan through one a bank and still have not received the proof of completion.
I called to ask for assistance through the schools support services. I ended up speaking with a rude young man that refused to give me his supervisors name and that basically told me i need to pay the balance or i would get nothing for the university. I explained about the loan and was still denied the request of a letter providing proof of completion, I have been dealing with this since early January and have lost a job because of the nonsense of this university. If there are anyone that has a class action suit i would like to join it because I am fed up with the university of Phoenix.
