I answered an ad for classes at the University of Phoenix. I needed six units to complete the requirements to renew my teaching credential in special education in Calif.
When talking to a counselor, she said that all course work done at the University of Phoenix was acceptable for Calif. Teaching credential renewals. I took two 3 unit classes on-line and sent my transcripts to the Calif. Credential department. I received a form letter stating that my classes were not accepted toward renewing my special educ. Credential.
The classes were taught by very knowledgable and competent instructors and I learned a lot, but the counselor sweet-talked me into taking the courses without providing the documentation (proof) that the courses would be accepted for the credential renewal.
This was a rip off!!! Sudents beware. Check out accreditation before you take an on-line class.
