Lied to and cheated out of Deposit

On 2/2/08 my wife and I purchased a Canopy Bed and matching dresser with mirror. While talking to the sales person we inquired about the set to make sure the rest of the bedroom set would be available for purchase in the future so we could add additional pieces when we could afford them. The sales lady told us Oh this set is a new item and will be available for years to come. Satisfied with this we purchased the items along with a Mattress set for a total of $4,748.01 We purchased these items on a 90 day same as cash option they offered and were required to put 30% down of $1,424.40 On 3/1/08 we went ahead and put another $500.00 down as our first payment on the plan for a total of $1,924.40 paid. We had been told that we needed to give them 30 days notice of when we would pay it off to order the furniture. We decided to go ahead at that time and order the furniture and pay it off when it arrived. On 3/6/08 we were call to inform us our furniture was ready to be delivered. Even though this was way ahead of the time we had allotted to pay it off we decided to go into the store and pay the balance since we were anxious to get our new bed and dresser.

We went into the store on 3/8/08 with the $2,283.61 required to pay off the balance. When walking in the store we saw the floor model we had looked at and saw a sign saying the entire set which included the canopy bed, dresser and mirror, 2 night stands, Armoire, Chest all on sale for $3,300.00 We asked about the sale and was told the set was on sale because the set was being discontinued. Totally shocked at this news we asked to speak to the manager about our situation and possibly buying the floor set instead of the set we had ordered just a few days earlier. The Manager told us there was nothing he could do because our furniture had already been ordered. We tried explaining about the sales person telling us that the set would be available for future purchase and we didnt want a set that we couldnt add to. He informed us that since we had purchased it on the 90 day cash plan and ordered it that it nothing he can do about it our only option was to go ahead and pay the balance or $2,823.61 or cancel the order and lose our original deposit of 30%.

We informed him at that time that we were really upset that we were misinformed and since we were long time customers and purchase lots of Furniture from Ashleys he should do something to help us get the set we wanted. He just walked away from us and said well I quess you will have to cancel and lose your deposit. My wife and I were so upset we decided that rather than give more money for a set that we could no longer purchase the rest of the items we would have to cancel our order. Now we are out $1,424 and have no furniture to show for it. We will never do business with Ashley Furniture ever agian and will tell everyone we know how poorly we were treated. We feel ripped off and lied to
