I have been with Wachovia for three years with two accounts with Direct deposit. They have managed to take from me $2000 total in fees, as much as $350.00 in one month, oweing them money each pay period. I use my checkcard to pay bills and make small purchases. I have been charged a $35.00 NSF fee for being overdrawn three cents. The majority of the charges are not even NSF, they are UNF. Did anyone know that there are three types of fees they can charge U? Customer Service told me I was assessed UNAVAILABLE fees, for money in the account but on hold toward other purchases. NSF are assessed when NO money is in the account. Granted they charge U the fee which then throws the amount on all other purchases off, then they charge U $35 on each item that was not covered. I had five small purchases totaling less than $100, with the money in the account being held toward a purchase, the smaller purchase came in and instead of them paying the smaller purchases that came in they chose to keep the funds on hold for the larger purchase and pay what is left toward the smaller purchases, which caused a domino effect with the fees, racking up four $35 UNF fees. I have a savings that I can transfer money for overdraft fees, if the bank moves the money from one account to another they charge $10 to do that. My direct deposit hits the bank the night before around midnight. I can withdraw money from the account, but they will not use the money toward a purchase that came in. I was told that my paycheck is dated for the 30th, even though I pulled cashed from the account at 12midnight, they could not use the money b/c is was not "technically available", how the hell do you explain that!!! The next day they paid the charge and pulled $35 for an NSF fee. If I call more than twice, I incur a $2 fee each time. If I walk into a branch to inquire, same thing applies. This is the only time I can get them to credit my account for what they have taken. I check my statement online every three days and make copies of the changes that occurs. They go back into the system and add entries and fees to make it look like the statement is off balance and of course they are right and I owe them. This is ridiculous. There has to be some legislature some where that governs what these banks are doing, with as many complaints as they have someone somewhere should be paying attention to what is happening here. This happens alot in all areas of different states. An investigation into the practices of Wachovia is desperately needed. They are such a huge organization that they are concerned that anyone would bring legal attention to them. This is so vile!
