Excessive Overdraft Fees

I have a personal and business account with Wachovia Bank. My personal account was charged 4 overdraft fees totaling in the amount of $140.00 I made 4 purchases and on the last purchase I exceeded my bank balance by $2.67. My most expensive purchase didn't process first. Looking at my bank statement the initial item shows it was processed and the amount was deducted with an ending positive balance. A fee was assessed after this which caused me to go negative and the snow ball effect insued. I am told because the totaling amount of my individual purchases were over the amount in my bank balance I was accessed a fee for each individual transaction. However all of my transactions posted different days, as were the purchases. This seems wrong! I told customer service I would take fault in overdrafting the final amount for $2.67 and eat the fee. The other 3 transactions should not be penalized there was enough money to cover those purchases. But Wachovia did nothing to help satisfy a multiple account customer.

I was on the phone with Wachovia for over 2 hours, sometimes placed on hold for as long as 10 plus minutes, with an big fat zero as an end result. No one was able to reverse the charges or explain why I was charged 4 times for 1 overdrawn item.

As a result I am looking to place legal action against Wachovia. My two accounts will promptly be placed with another bank and I am going to make sure everyone I know understands the improper practices of Wachovia Bank.
