I was advised by Friedmans Jewelers that I had an outstanding debt of $38.00 dollars that was now being held by Midland Credit Management. I called to resolve the debt issue, and was told by a person who identified himself as Hosea, operator 5132, that I owed over $1,000.00 dollars on a credit card that I do not own and have never owned. The year he gave that I would have opened the account, I was 17 years old, and in High School!
He continued to claim that I owed this debt and would not let me settle my $38.00 debt until I paid the phony Visa bill he claimed that I had. I asked to speak to a Supervisor and he said he did not have one. I asked to speak to a manager and he said there were none available.
I refused to pay and informed Friedman's of the scandalous activity. The residents of California must have some very laxed laws for a company to freely operate like this and not get shut down.
