Claimed I owed them money on a debt I never had! Ripoff

Rec'd a letter from MCM on August 9th stating I owed them a large sum of money from a debt I'd let go to collections.

I have no items in collections on my credit report, nor have I ever. When I called MCM, I was hung up on the first time, and the second time, I was refused the chance to obtain account info, told I couldn't speak to the rep's supervisor, and I told I needed to provide proof I didn't owe this debt, but that I should just pay it and be done with it.
