Cross Country Bank
Ripoff consumer rip-off fraud

In February I closed my Cross Country Bank Account as it never seemed to reduce in the balance. When I closed the account it was under limit. The next week CCB applied an annual membership fee to a "CLOSED" account which took it OVERLIMIT. When I called them to find out why I was being charged a fee on a CLOSED account? I was informed that CCB charges their customers regardless of the status of the account.

I have been a credit card collections specialist for over fifteen (15) years. I worked for Bank of America and we were the very first bankcard provider. All banks have their own policy and guidelines and with CCB you must pay the annual fee or find yourself in my situation. I called their customer service department and advised I had just made my monthly payment and was informed it was LESS than the minimum and I was overlimt. The new policy is $60.00 a month in FEES. Part is for late fee the other is an OVERLIMIT fee. My account balance was $361.00 when this started. Currently, the balance of the account is almost $500.00 and the majority is FEES that CCB charges their customers.

This past Monday "Holiday" was one to beat all Holidays. My phone rang and when I answered it there was a CCB Collector on the line. I told her the cardholder was not available and she could no longer call for the cardholder at the number. She then began to tell me she would call every five (5) minutes. She proceeded to call every three (3) minutes until the 15th call and by then I had completely lost it. I had started recording the calls after the second (2nd) call.

The collector was informed and she didn't car. Finally, I infomred her she was speaking to the cardholder and explained to her California Fair Debt and Collection Practices. I also informed her that as a collector, she represented the company and should not harrass the customers as it would NOT get her a payment. I urged her to change her tactics as to collect in a more positive manner. This proved to be a waste of time.By the end of the call I was being cursed out and yelled at and called all kinds of debtors.

To add injury, on Tuesday morning at precisly, 8:00 A.M. My phone rang and CCB was yet again calling. The collector attempted to tell me that noboday had called the previous day and I told her I had taped the call. She yelled and told me it was illegal to tape calls without permission. I advised her that I had informed the collector as I was informing her, and she hung up.By the time I reache my office I had received another four (4) messages from CCB.

As of today, I sent them a cease and desist letter with repsect to all phone calls and emails. I'm attempting to pull together as many customers of CCB who would be interested in filing a class action suit againt this company. If interested, let me know.
