Lie, charge late fee for a late fee that was to be adjusted and harrassing phone calls

The company I am having an issue with is my Tribute credit card whose parent company is Compucredit Corp out of Atlanta, Georgia.

This company does not follow the proper collection guidlines. Example of this would be:

More than one collector calling and speaking with a consumer per day
Speaking with a consumer one day and calling again the next day not even 24 hours after speaking with the consumer

My issues started in April when I did not receive a statement. As soon as I realized a payment was not made I scheduled a payment through online banking. The first available delivery date was April 15. Somewhere between the time I scheduled the payment and April 15th I received a collection call from a very nice and polite lady collector. I explained I had not received a statement and as soon as I noticed I scheduled a payment which if not already there should show posted the next day.

Now this is where my nightmare begins. The lady said the amount due on my May statement was $182.00. This amount consists of the April payment of $73.00 (which I had previously scheduled), the May payment of $73.00 and a late fee of $35.00. I show these totals $181.00 but I was not going to argue. She said if I allowed her to schedule my May payment of $73.00 she would adjust the $35.00 late fee. I asked if this would bring my account current and she said yes if I allowed her to schedule the payment. I agreed and was given confirmation #10294091. I was shocked to find she not only had my name, address, social security number but my complete bank account information (bank name, routing # and account #). This is opening a consumer up for identity theft since India has all personal information needed.

I thought the issue was resolved but was I wrong. Not only was the account not brought current but the adjustment was not made.

I am receiving daily or every other day calls from a collector and each time must go over the story again. One collector is not assigned to an account so every call is a different person.

On May 8, I received the first of numerous calls stating I was past due and a payment of $143.83 was due immediately. I was disconnected and called them back because I just want this issue resolved. I asked how when the April and May payment were both paid with one of their employees scheduling the May payment which I was told was $73.00 and she was too have adjusted the late fee of $35.00. I was told this was incorrect information and that the late fee was still due and if it had been adjusted it would have come off the balance (which she did not adjust because there is no adjustment on my June statement that I just received) but I still had to pay it. I asked to speak with a manager and was placed on hold. After quite a few minutes the person came back on line and stated that a supervisor would review the call and call me back with in a week.

I went ahead and to make sure everything was notated sent a letter to:
Cardholder Services Dispute Resolution
PO Box 105374
Atlanta, GA 30348-5374

I also, went on line and sent and email. I received a reply to my email stating that my account was past due 2 days for $36.00 and to call the collection department. Now that late fee amount would make the $182.00 amount correct but not the amount printed on the statement. What is the correct late fee amount the $35.00 printed on the statement or the $36.00 in the email? This is another discrepancy.

I called the 1-877-888-0084 on the statement and it just transferred me to the collection department.

I went back through my caller ID as far back as possible and below is a list of those calls.

May 17 8:16 AM I received a phone call and
again explained the situation and I that I was waiting on a phone call from
the supervisor. The week I
was to receive the phone call
ended on May, 15.
May 19 2:24 PM A collector called and I
asked if there was a
supervisor or manager
manager available. They
wanted to continue but I
explained I was waiting on
a call back from a manager.
I was disconnected
May 20 8:08 AM When I answered no one
answered back.

May 20 11:56 AM A collector and I gave the
whole story to again.

2:36 PM A different collector and I
explained I had already
spoken to someone that day
and was waiting on a call
from a supervisor.
4:39 PM A lady called and I stated
I was waiting on a call back
from a manager. No one
was available.

On May 18, since I had no response from my letter and was still being harassed by phone calls I decided they were not going to respond to my letter so I sent another letter with a copy of the first letter by certified mail. As of today I have not received either a signed receipt or refusal back from the post office.

Yesterday, May 21, at 12:12 PM I received another call from a man and again I explained I was waiting on a manager to call me back. I was placed on hold and a few minutes later a man who said his name was Rave Johnson stated he was the supervisor.
Mr. Johnson stated I was wrong and started arguing with me over everything. He did everything but come out and say I was lying. The conversation ended with another promise of listening to the original tape and getting back with me.

I have tried to explain and I have sent dispute letters about the charges. Still I am receiving call after call with no resolution to the issue or the promised adjustment.

Also, what is to stop this company from just telling me that after listening to the tape I am wrong? At this point I do not have much faith in doing business with this company or in believing anything I am being told. A customer is never correct as far as they are concerned nor is the employees if they are giving out incorrect information.
June 1, I received a letter stating my account was now 21 days past due and to talk to collections. This shows that my letter was not even properly read. The past due is their late fee and their employee had scheduled the payment. If it had been due she should have scheduled it at the same time and then there would not have been late fees charged for past due late fee. Also, this company charges not only monthly interest but now a monthly maintenance fee for doing business with them.

Compucredit sound like they are helping you until you have the credit then they charge fees upon fees.
