Simply put, I cancelled a DTE account in 2002. The account representative even admitted that the person who was supposed to turn off the device at the apartment in Ann Arbor could not get to the device and turned around. The account continued to run running up a bill of almost $600. This still is on my credit report even though, on several occassions, a DTE representative stated that the account was closed. I guess that means that the account was taken to collections. I don't believe I received any type of letter until well over a year after the date of cancellation.
I do not think it is fair for customers to pay for the laziness of field workers. There is no doubt it was cancelled, because I took a lot of pride cancelling the electricity on drug using and abusing roommates. I know I cancelled this account. I recently checked my credit and I see their name still in my report. It must be removed! Can anyone help?
