I recieved a "Pre-Approved" VISA card offer from Resurgent Capital Services, L.P.in the first paragraph, it says "LVNV Funding, LLC" purchased a debt from Southwestern Bell (and gave an original acct. Number) It said my debt was: $4,682.19. This is not true.in fact, I have no debt.
The letter went on to say that I "can pay my debt fully by balance transferring $3,970 of your debt to a new VISA credit card, and when the card is issued, the remaining $712.19 will be forgiven."
Then you are asked to call a number or fill out the return REPLY CARD for the new VISA.
Although I can't recall, I probably did have a Southwestern Bell account back in 1998 or earlier since. At the time, they were one of the few telephone service provideres you could get.in any event, I never closed an account owing money on it. This is totally made up.
There are several others who have reported these people for fraud and scams. So far, I have ignored the letter. I am considering reporting them to the Attorney Generals of South Dakota and South Carolina.
