I had an account with a credit card. I believe AT&T I could be wrong.
Unifund purchased the account back when I had financial troubles. I was young and dumb, and broke.
The account went into Judgment, and wages were garnished.
During the time of my wages being garnished, Unifund was marking my account monthly as paid/OK with the credit reporting agencies.
Original Account Balance $795
Amount paid after all was said and done Approx $1500
As soon as I was finished paying off the Judgment, Unifund decided to mark my accounts with the bureaus as $34 passed due, and Charged off as of May, June, July, and August.
I guess thats what they do to people who have actually paid them 2 times the actual balance.
I am not a dead beat. I had financial troubles when I was a teen till I was about 20-21. I am now 28. I never filed for bankruptsy when I could have. I believe I owe what I owe. And other account that never went into Judgment got paid off in full as well.
Anyway, I wrote to Unifund on 9-4-06, and again on 9-14-06 questioning these new derogatory marks on my reports. I included the satisfied letters from their Attorney, and the Marshal who collected. Still no changes.
I called Unifund on 9-17-06 and again on 9-28-06. Not sure who I spoke to the first time, but she gave me the same line as Kim who I spoke to on the 28th at EXT. 117. That they received my letter, and it was fowarded to the legal department. Both reps told me they would work on it that day and try to get my reports changed.
The public record being on my file is enough negative information to begin with, but I guess Unifund figures they want to further damage my scores by continuing to report false information with the bureaus.information that they know is false because they have the paper work right in front of them. But they tell me the Attorneys who have handled the case never sent them the information. (Sharinn and Lipshie) Which I find kinda funny considering the Attorney has filed with the courts as satisfied, and also sent me the satisfaction letter, hell, even the Marshal has sent me the satisfaction letter. I find it hard to believe they did not foward a letter to Unifund, the company that hired them to collect this debt.
So to close, my next course of action is to speak to my attorney to see how many FCRA violations have been made by Unifund in their reporting.
If there is any other class action suit against these crooks, or anyone else out there that has had the same problems, please contact me or reply here. I would love to hear of them.
