U-Haul
Charged my credit card for a broken truck on the side of the road!

I am disputing a credit charge from U-haul in the amount of $183.95, which is included on my statement dated 8-20. The reason being, is that the services were horrible and I will not pay for something I didn't receive. Let's start from the beginning; I reserved two 24 ft trucks from U-Haul early June. I received confirmation that the two trucks would be available on my move date for 24 hours from my pick up time. Upon my arrival to pick up my trucks from the U-haul location, they told me I could only keep the truck until 11 am the next day and they only had a truck with a manual transmission, no A/C and I had to pick up the second truck from another location.in another city! Adding 20 miles unnecessarily to my move.

With no other choice I choose to go and get the other truck. Upon arrival the store manager couldn't get his computer to print out my agreement contract. I didn't sign anything, he gave me the key and pointed me in the direction of the truck. I proceeded outside and when I tried to start it up nothing happened and after several attempts I went back inside to inform the attendant. The manager came outside and noted that there was a special way to start the vehicle, upon demonstrating this procedure the key broke off in the ignition. So now there was a nub of a key he handed me and said put the tip of the broken key in and press down really hard on the ignition switch, this would work after several attempts. After two hours to pick up two trucks my family and I proceeded home to load the trucks, already tired and frustrated.

We loaded up everything on the two trucks that evening and locked them up to pull out first thing the next morning. About 10 minutes into the trip I noticed the engine light was on so I stopped to check it out. The radiator was leaking, I went inside purchased coolant and topped off the rest with water. Sixty miles later we had to do the same thing. Another 10 minutes and we heard a big bang and the sound of metal hitting ground then truck stopped pulling as I was pulling over to the side of the road I noticed what the bang was. The drive shaft had fallen off the vehicle!

I immediately checked to see if everyone was ok then I called your 1-800 number, they told me that they would call me back with the estimated time of arrival of a mechanic to fix it. Well about 40 minutes passed and I finally got a call and they then told me that no one was available to fix the truck and no other truck was available to swap with until maybe Monday, this was to me unacceptable. Then they told me that a tow truck would be coming to get the truck in about 3 hours! I had to get someone to sit with the truck while I continued on to my destination, unloading the first truck, returning to the disabled truck, transloading its contents onto the working vehicle and going back to offload it. The disabled truck served me absolutely nothing whatsoever. U-Haul should be paying me to experience such a horrible ordeal with using their service. My wife also spoke with Denise at the 1-800 customer service number and was supposed to get a call back with a resolution to our inconvenience but instead
I get a letter from U-Haul in the mail 3 months later stating if I didn't pay they would pursue with all legal means necessary to secure a legitimate payment! You have to be literally out of your mind if you expect me to pay $185 for something I didn't even get. I will never as long as I live use U-haul again!!
