Vector Marketing - Cutco
Ripoff students

I am reporting the shameful Portsmouth, New Hampshire office of Vector Marketing and Amy Maclearn involved in a employee scam. During labor day weekend, employees at the Portsmouth, NH office set out to the busy Kittery, Maine outlet shops. They placed flyers on every car promising "huge pay, ($16.50 and up), and flexible schedules." They however left no detail about the company or nature of work. My mother recieved a flyer on her car. I called the number listed, 603.436.2055 to follow up on this oppurtunity. The lady who answered the phone was courteous and had her routine down it seemed. However, she was very disorganized and made me wait several minutes before she could find something to take down my info.

After taking my information she told me it was best that I come in for an interview tonight, 7PM, for an interview. That sounded pretty over-the-top and desperate to me. I told them I could come in the next day at 2:30. And it was confirmed for that time. She refused to go over the job details, but told me to bring a pen and paper and come 15 minutes early. She also told me that many people are calling her and she could only spend an allotment of time with me on the phone right now.

6:30PM
I find reports online about Vector Marketing scamming employees.

6:45PM
I then called for Amy, the Director, at (603) 436-2055. It was 6:45pm, 15 mins. Prior to the time she demanded I come in to be interviewed. Well, the person who ansered the phone explained she either didn't want to speak or was too busy. When I called I could hear people in the background talking. I then told her if Amy Mclearn couldn't answer a few questions maybe she could.

I asked her if I was being interviewed as an employee for the company or as an independent contracter. She got hesitant and nervous. She pleaded that she wasn't really sure. Then she said she would look for it in "her papers." 5 seconds later-"Umm, independant contractor, I think?!"

At this point, she tried to confirm my interview, hang-up, and get rid of me. But I wasn't finished, I was still curious about the opportunity. I kindly explained that I did a Google search on the company to make sure the oppurtunity was a legit one. I then proceeded to ask her a couple more questions, I asked "if as an employee will I be required to go to un-paid training?"

She said she couldn't answer that and demanded I just come in for the interview. She was sounding really deceptive like she knew and really didn't want to tell me. I then asked what really set her off, "Are we required to pay $145 before starting work?" She pleaded she still wasn't aware! At this point, I nicely said then either let me speak to someone who knows, or I just want to cancel my interview. All she said was a very Rude O.K., i thought she was finally transferring my to amy! -nope. I was dialtoned. She hung up on me-a "prospective employee"/independant contractor. Well, -they missed their chance.
