My daughter Shawna signed up for classes and for finacial aid the beginning of October. After a few hours on the phone with a counselor we were told everything was done.
My daughter started classed on October 31. At the end of December my daughter was informed by the finacial department that her finacial paperwork had not been electronically signed. This was three months after she filled out the paperwork.
My daughter signed the paperwork. A few days later my daughter was notified again by the finace department that I needed to sign the paperwork, which I did.
Now here we are in March and my daughter was informed by the finace department that she owed Axia College $1599.00. The request for finacial aid was not approved because my daughter was no longer enrolled with Axia College.
By the time my daughter signed the finacial aid paperwork and it was submitted she had already completed her two blocks of classes. And since she was no longer a student with Axia College the request for aid was denied.
What kind of crap is that? If the finacial aid counselor had done her job and submitted the paperwork on time and complete my daughter would have qualified for aid and that is that.
My daughter never would have signed up for classes if she did not have finacial aid, she nor I could have afforded it. We were told that she qualified for aid and that everything was done.
Thirty days had passed when my daughter signed up for classes and aid to the time she started classes. Any problems with paperwork should have been corrected during that time. But instead my daughter gets a call three months later informing her that the amount of $1599.00 is due and soon to be turned over to collections.
The communication between my daughter and her finacial councelor was a joke. The Axia Councelor would never return her calls. The Axia Councelor always had an excuse, oh I lost your cell phone number, or your parents phone number is disconnected. Excuse me, our number has been in service for over fifteen years.
I spoke with the finace councelors supervisor on March 27 and got nothing but a run-around. When I requested the number of the supervisor in charge she informed me she did not have it. Every company I have ever worked for has a directory on every desk in the building.
The counselor told me she would talk with her supervisor, and then call my daughter. Guess what, it never happened. These people do not care... I can only wonder how many hard working, young adults have caved in to the pressures of Axia College and paid them money because of their incompetence?
How dare Axia College threaten my daughter with collections. How dare Axia College try and take advantage of my daughter because they made mistakes. Axia College do the right, moral thing and admit your mistakes and find someone else to try and screw over.
