InfinityPhoto.com, MrAccessory.com Deceptive advertisements, bait-and-switch, rude, frauds

I ordered a Nikon Coolscan V ED film scanner on 2/26/06 at the low price of $489, based on a Google.com websearch. (BTW, these guys are a "featured retailer" on Google). I received an email from them, asking me to contact them by phone to verify my order. When I called in on 3/2/06, the salesman asked me "we just need to know if you want the 3', the 6', or the 9' power cord with your order?". I asked him if there was any difference in price and he said "yes, the 3' cord is $129, the 6' cord is $169...". I told him "forget it, I just want whatever cord is already in the box". He said "there is no cord included in the box, you have to order one". (This is an outright lie, as Nikon sells the outfit complete with slide holders, software, power supply and cords.).

When I objected, his retort was "there is no room for discussion here". I then pointed out that his advert says NOTHING about having to pay extra for cords and such, and again (yelling this time) he told me "this is not up for discussion". At which point I told him there was no way I was going to pay extra for a power cord and he said "fine, have a nice day" and hung up with me yelling at him "cancel the damned order!". Immediately afterward, I plugged "bestpricecameras" into a Google search and found the vendor info.in nearly every case, buyers have had the same complaints: when you order anything from BestPriceCameras, they try to sell you the accessories that are already in the box as separate items and at greatly inflated prices. They also have a bad rep for either shipping incomplete packages or not shipping what they've promised and not answering/returning your calls and emails.

My advice: avoid BestPriceCameras at all cost - run away! And if you've already been ripped off by them, please complain to the NY Attorney General, the NY Metropolitan Better Business Bureau, and Google.com. Check out Don Wiss's photos of infamous Brooklyn storefronts, too, where you'll find nothing but garage doors and faked addresses. Most of these ripoff outfits operate under multiple company names, so be aware that switching to another company may not spare you from dealing with these scammers. Best thing you can do: AVOID DOING BUSINESS IN BROOKLYN!
