What a scam! I actually fell for this one. A heavily accented woman phoned me at home and told me I was eligible to receive a government grant of $12,500. I had done some research on the internet prior to her call regarding government grants as I was looking to further my education. I have NO idea how Advantage America got my personal information (address, phone #, etc.)
I should have known better, but, I really did apply for a government grant last year and believed what this woman was telling me as truth. It amazes me how some people will sink to any level just to STEAL money from honest, hard-working American citizens.
I have no idea if I can get my $49.95 "processing fee" that was being deducted from the "grant money" returned to me, but I am going to try!
Please don't make the same mistake I did... NEVER give personal information over the phone. Especially your banking information.
