In May I refinanced my house to pay off all of my student loans.in July began receiving collection calls from Sallie Mae. I sent in copies of my cancelled checks repeatedly via fax and mail. No one I spoke to at Sallie Mae was authorized to fix the problem, they could only nag for more money.in the September I finally reached Christopher Chamberlain, who explained that one faction of Sallie Mae had sold off my loans to another faction of Sallie Mae during the time I sent the checks, so that the checks had never been applied to my accounts properly. He said he would fix the problem, but never heard back from him, and I now cannot reach him. Sallie Mae is continuing to demand money I don't owe them, including accumulated interest, and they are ruining my credit. The Omnibudsman I spoke with unfairly wants me to pay the 3 years worth of interest accrued since I paid off the loans, and Sallie Mae supposedly will then fix the problem. My only recourse now is to sue in small claims court, because I can't afford a $375 per hour lawyer.
