A man called my phone at my home, left a message for me to call him. I called him, it was Mark with Allied Interstate Inc. Trying to collect on a bill for Sears that my son owes. Mark said Sears would settle for $380, I told him that I did not owe Sears, I would not pay the $380 for my son. Mark said that he was trying to help my son, keep him out of a lawsuit.
To make a long story short, I told him I would have to call him back. I told him that I may settle for $300. I called him back, he said he needed to put this on a credit card that day, Nov. 9. I agreed to put $300, not the $380 on my mastercard to settle this account for my son. Mark said yes he would accept that amount.
I gave him my mastercard number and all the info. At that time, Mark said he would have to have the $380 (he already had my card number), I told him no, that we had agreed on the $300. And I wasn't going to pay any more. I am not the one that owed these people, Sears. Mark agreed to take the $300, gave me his word that $300. Was what he was going to put on my credit card. I trusted this man, realize now that I should not have. I checked with my mastercard company and the charge to Allied Interstate was $380.71. I am filing a dispute over this charge with them.
This only goes to show that you can't deal with these collection agencies. I will not even talk to them again, they can sue or whatever they want to. They can't get any money when people don't have any. I have learned the hard way. These stores should check out peoples credit record before they give loans anyway! I will be seeing an attorney about this matter.
This is fraud, charging my credit card more than they were authorized by me to do.
If an attorney or someone out there wants to help me sue this Allied Interstate, please contact me! They need to be taught that they cannot get by with these actions, especially when I was not the person that owed the bill to begin with, just trying to help out my son get this one off of him. I will welcome any suggestions on this!
